How to take care of Your skin in Summer Season?

Summer is a season of clear skies and lots of sunshine. While everyone enjoys being out in the fresh air during sunny days, it can be challenging for your skin to resist damage from the sun’s rays. The UV rays can cause severe damage to your skin if you don’t protect it well. The hot and humid weather can make your skin oily, dull and congested.

Simple morning routine

Your morning routine should be simple and use minimum products irrespective of your skin type. You can follow a simple skin care routine – cleanse, tone, moisturise, and protect using products that suit your skin type. Layering too many products for a hot summer day might clog your pores and result in irritation and inflammation.

Step 1: Cleanse

  • Use a hydrating and gentle face cleanser while washing your face first thing in the morning. It keeps your skin hydrated without stripping away your skin's natural oils and moisture.

  • If your skin tends to be flaky, irritated and dry during summer, you can try this aloe gentle facial wash. It contains community traded aloe vera extract without artificial fragrance, colour or alcohol.

  • Oily skin needs a purifying face wash that can deep cleanse pores. This tea tree facial wash is designed for oily skin. It effectively removes excess oil and impurities from your skin, leaving it refreshed and clean.

Step 2: Tone

  • Toner is essential to balance the skin's pH and keep it hydrated.

  • The Body Shop’s skin care product range featuring seaweed oil is designed to keep your skin pH balanced. The seaweed oil balancing toner works for all skin types. It is an alcohol-free toner.

Step 3: Moisturise

  • Keeping your skin hydrated and moisturised is essential in summer. Exposure to UV rays can damage your skin barrier. So using a moisturiser is a must for all skin types.

  • This lightweight and non-greasy tea tree mattifying lotion will work wonders for oily skin.

  • For dry skin, you can use this vitamin E moisture cream.

  • Men may experience slightly oilier skin in summer. You can try this green tea and lemon mattifying moisturiser for men. It’s a light gel moisturiser that keeps your face hydrated for 24 hours.

Step 4: Protect

  • Applying sunscreen before stepping out is essential, but reapplying sunscreen every 2-3 hours is equally important to protect your skin.

  • The Skin Defence Multi-Protection Lotion SPF 50+ PA++++ is a perfect sunscreen that gives sufficient sun protection and works for all skin types.

  • For reapplication of sunscreen, you can use the Skin Defence Multi-Protection Face Mist SPF45 PA++. It’s lightweight, and the spray function makes it easy to reapply the sunscreen during the day.

You can use lightweight Body Shop skin care products to keep your skin moisturised and hydrated in your morning skin care routine. At night, you can use slightly thicker and more nourishing products in your skin care routine.

Simple night routine in summer

  • Use cleansing oil or balm to take off makeup and sunscreen. Oils of Life™ Intensely Revitalising Cleansing Oil-In-Gel will work for all skin types and effectively removes dirt and impurities from the skin.

  • While you can repeat your morning skin care routine steps at night, you can also add steps to treat your skin concerns. Use a serum before applying moisturiser to work on specific skin issues.

  • You can use a brightening, hydrating, or skin firming serum that repairs your skin cells during the night.

Follow these simple and easy skin care routines during summer to take care of your skin. The Body Shop also has skin care products for men. They are designed to work effectively for men’s skin in particular.
