8 Tips to Apply Eye Cream Properly

Our eyes are one of the most sensitive and yet the most stressed parts of our body. Just like the eyes, the skin surrounding them is equally sensitive and soft. While the common notion is that a normal face moisturizer is enough for the entire face skincare routine, it's a fact that around-eye skin requires special care and products.

The skin around the eye is prone to become more irritable and dry, and is the first to show the signs of aging as compared to the skin across the face. Thus, eye creams are a lifesaver to keep the around-eye skin glowing, healthy, soft, and nourished. Eye creams are filled with the goodness of vitamin E, just like The Body Shop Eye Cream, which helps keep the puffiness, dryness, or any irritation away.

Well, all the benefits of eye cream cannot be redeemed unless their application is correct. Here are a few tips to apply eye cream correctly that will help your eye cream perform better:

  1. Less is more: Eye creams are heavy in moisture, and hence just half-a-pea-size drop is enough for a one-time application. Excessive quantities can go inside your eyes and cause irritation.

  2. The soft-touch: Always use your ring finger for applying eye cream. The under-eye skin is supremely delicate, and using the ring finger (weakest/softest finger) ensures that the skin gets the most gentle massage.

  3. Dot application: Bifurcate the drop of cream on the tips of both of your ring fingers. Move both your tips simultaneously for the respective eye; start putting small dots starting from the inner corner, and work up towards the brow bone.

  4. Dab-dab: Since the skin is very sensitive, dab the product around the eye. Smudging or rubbing can damage the skin. Dabbing increases blood circulation and helps in better absorption of the product, giving better results.

  5. Right time: Apply the eye cream either in the morning or evening, keeping a minimum of 12 hours between any two applications. Early evening application helps in better absorption overnight, while day application protects from external damage.

  6. A little gap: After application, let the cream absorb in the skin. If you have to put on make-up, it's advisable to give a gap of at least 90 seconds to ensure the best results.

  7. Cleansing: Always cleanse your face and hands properly before applying the eye cream. Always use the eye cream at the end of your skincare routine.

  8. Testing is necessary: Eye creams don’t give immediate results. The key ingredients in eye cream can suit one person while proving useless for others. So, always conduct thorough research and patch tests before selecting the best eye cream for you. To begin with, you could go for The Body Shop eye cream too.

Different eye creams have varying results. Eye creams for dark circles are hardly as effective as eye creams for wrinkles around the eyes. Some tend to hydrate and reduce the puffiness around the eyes. Hence, it’s important to understand your requirements before buying eye creams online or elsewhere. Include a good eye cream in your routine, and your eyes might never have a bad day!
